STL is the short form of Spread The Love. It is a campaign co-ordinated by Mavuno Church that seeks to mobilise God’s people to change God’s world, and aims at raising one million hours of community service annually through volunteers.

In Kenya the focus has been to harness people and resources to restore dignity and hope to children in public primary schools and those serving term in our correctional institutions. Our goal is to raise one million hours of community service annually through volunteers.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • What is STL

STL is the short form of Spread The Love. It is a campaign co-ordinated by Mavuno Church which seeks to harness people and resources to restore dignity and hope to children in public primary schools and those serving term in our correctional institutions. Our goal is to raise 1 Million hours of community service annually through volunteers.

  • Why are we doing it?

Most public primary schools and correctional facilities are in very bad shape and their resources are strained. This has led to a loss of hope, stripping of dignity and esteem of those who are in these institutions. It is this that we seek to restore even as we heed the amazing words found in the third stanza of Kenya’s national anthem: “Let all with one accord, In common bond united, Build this our nation together, And the glory of Kenya, The fruit of our labour, Fill every heart with thanksgiving”. When we come together and restore lost glory, we fill the hearts of our brothers and sisters with thanksgiving.

  • Who is doing it?

Mavuno Church is the co-ordinating center but the STL campaign is not closed up to Mavuno Church members only. All who are interested to participate and restore dignity and hope to our brothers and sisters are welcome regardless of religious affiliations or the lack of it.

  • What are some of Spread the Love Campaign achievements?

Through the Spread the Love initiative, we’ve had the opportunity to harness people and resources to restore dignity and hope to children in public primary schools and those serving terms in our correctional facilities. We have painted, planted trees and landscaped their compounds and repaired and built critical infrastructure.

In 2018 we raised donations worth Ksh.16 million and 5 schools were rehabilitated through 20,000 hours of community engagement. In 2019 we raised 20 million to renovate 13 additional schools in Kenya  through 25,000 hours of community development hours. In 2020 during the peak of covid-19 pandemic, we supported over 1,300 needy family by giving food parcels to school teachers, special needs children, sportsmen and women basketballers, church clergy and even the elderly who had been affected by the economic losses of the pandemic.

  • What is the theme for Spread the Love 2021

In 2021 we are doing it bigger and better through RANDOM ACTS OF KINDNESS to support those who have been affected by the pandemic. We invite you to participate by donating clothes, utensils, dry food parcels to our collection points at a Mavuno Church near you. The different Mavuno campuses will select their beneficiaries and set a date to hand over their donations to the beneficiary.

In addition, we would urge you to develop a practice of generosity through RANDOM ACTS OF KINDESS to the needy around you and remember to SPREAD THE LOVE.

  • How can I participate?

As we purpose to live simpler lives devoid of consumerism, we invite you to donate clothes, utensils and dry foods to a collection point at a Mavuno Church near you. These items will be donated to beneficiary families and institutions. We are also raising funds towards the 2021 Spread the Love Edition to further support the beneficiaries who have been economically affected by the pandemic.
